What are thatch panels anyway you may ask and why are they the new kid on the block when it comes to roofing materials? Thatch Roofing is not a new thing actually but here on the Western hemisphere of the world, thatch roofing is practically unheard off. Thatch roofing is very popular in tropical countries due to the sweltering heat there.
A Thatch Roof is composed of planting material that is dried up and woven together. The advantages of having a thatch roof are mostly on the aesthetics side. If you are planning for example to make a cottage that will blend in with your garden, a thatch roof would be the best option as it will give your cottage an extra natural feel due to the nature of its material. Better yet, you do not have to worry about ventilation and heating with a thatch roof. Why? Because it traps heat during winter and makes things cooler during the summer.
The problem with thatch roofing though is that it is more expensive than the normal shingles that we use. Creating one in the first place is very labor extensive and done mostly by hand. The materials are also not widely available as technically speaking, we are speaking of tree leaves here and they are very hard to harvest. Do not fret though because we believe that the advantages offset the disadvantages.
Fasteners, screws, and nails are three of the basic necessities for household maintenance. And just keeping them in storage is definitely not enough. They need to be organized so that they can be easily found and use whenever maintenance emergencies arise.
Organizing these small entities in just any way will not prevent one from making mistakes of distinguishing one from the other. But by applying simple ergonomic concepts in organizing these small entities can result to faster search and prevent mistakes such mismatching.
Firstly, group the fasteners, screws, and nails according to wood, cement and plastic. After grouping, arrange them accordingly in a container with multiple bins. Next, within each group, assign each entity on a bin in a manner that you avoid putting similarly colored and shaped ones next to each other. As much as possible, two adjacent bins should have two entities that have contrasting colors and/or obviously different shapes. After grouping and assigning them to the bins, put flags or notes to indicate the wood, cement, and plastic grouping. And for ease of searching, position the storage container in a slanting position such that the user can easily see the bins and their contents without having to lean forward. Ergonomically speaking, color contrast helps the eyes in differentiating things better, ergo making the search process faster. And for more ergonomic benefits, the slanting position prevents hand, neck, and back strains when searching the container.
